One of Ireland’s only neutral university level political societies, UCC’s Government and Politics society aims to bring political awareness on campus to both those studying it, and those who have a keen interest in the field through various debate events, talks and networking events.
The primary aim of the Government and Politics Society is to increase political awareness in UCC and make politics more accessible to the student body at large. It also caters for both the academic and social needs of its members. Membership is open to all UCC students. Throughout the year, the society organises a number of events including guest speakers, student debates, mystery tours, the Government Ball and the Government Cup football tournament. Every year, the society hosts the inaugural UCC Politics Week and UCC Government Week as well as the yearly student magazine, Polity.
